Summer Hair SOS

As summer gets into full flow and the climate heats up you will no doubt be contemplating spending long days sunbathing the beach, having picnics in the park or barbecues in the garden. The humidity and sunny weather may well leave you fighting with your hair however, but don’t despair – with the right products your hair can still look perfectly coiffed even as the year heats up.

While revelling in the summer sunshine it is important to think about the toll the sun, sea, chlorine and heat is having on your hair. To avoid damage, it is vital to use professional hair care products to shield from those negative influences and repair the hair structure from the inside. Many suncare hair products also include SPFs so just as you would protect your skin from sun damage, ensure you do the same with your hair.

If you’re going on holiday to even hotter climes, remember to have your hair coloured at least two weeks before you leave, giving the colour a chance to settle with the smoothing of the cuticle layer which will increase the longevity of your shade. Protecting your hair and scalp with a hat in very hot weather is always a good idea so don’t forget to pack the sombrero! Upon your return, it’s a good idea to visit your salon for a deep conditioning treatment to replace any lost moisture and re-strengthen your locks.
