On the colder nights we all tend to crank the central heating up which is great to keep us warm but not so good for our skin. Our skin always suffers more in the winter due the the harsh weather outside  and then in contrast the warmth of central heating inside, which can leave skin sensitive, tight and dry.

We have some great tips to help keep your skin looking radiant. Firstly we would recommend that you exfoliate to remove dull, dead skin cells. Here are a few hints to help you get it right:

• Eyes Last. Cleanse, tone and moisturise your face as usual, making sure any eye make up is removed. Put on the rest of your make up but leave your eyes bare until the rest of your face is finished.
• Party or Natural? If you want to apply eyeshadow do so now otherwise leave bare for the natural look.
• Eyeliner. Apply eyeliner to your top eyelids - be as dramatic as you like although a thin line will suffice - this line simply masks the join between your own eyelashes and the falsies. Remember if you go wrong with eyeliner just use a cotton bud to tidy it up.
• Mascara Prep. Apply a bit of mascara to your own lashes which will help them to blend better with the false ones - a good trick is to brush the top of your eyelashes gently first to coat this side as well as the underneath - a quick extra volume fix!
• Glue. According to the instructions on the pack of false eyelashes you have purchased, put the glue on the strip but try not to use too much as they really don’t need it and it can get messy!
• Place. Holding the tips of the false lashes with your fingers, gently place them on your eyeline, as close to your own lashes as possible and within the eyeliner line you have drawn.
• Dab & Hold. Using a cotton bud, gently press down across the glue strip to attach to your eye. Leave them alone for a couple of minutes to allow the glue to dry.
• Mascara & Go! Finally add a little extra mascara to all your lashes to help them blend and voila - beautiful big, natural looking lashes for that extra girly statement!

Rani Saimbi, owner of designer clothing and accessories shop Booty Boutique, skillfully organised this fund raising event in collaboration with Worthing Town Centre Initiative and Splash FM. Rani is no stranger to setting up this kind of event and is eagerly showcasing local talent as well as encouraging unity amongst the local business community. This year Richard John were lucky enough to be invited to participate and we were happy to take part.

The model guys and girls came into the salon at 3pm to have there hair and make-up done, then went off to be dressed in fashions from:

• BluBelle
• Hobo
• Jean Store, and of course
• Booty Boutique

Some vintage clothing was also hand picked from the St Barnabas Charity Shop.

The evening kicked off at 7pm with some poetry reading from Rag Artists and Makers, after which the fashion show itself commenced. Crowds thronged the specially erected catwalk in Montague Place and despite the good old British weather turning to rain everyone enjoyed themselves, managing to shield themselves from the elements using coats and umbrellas!

The diverse evening, however, not only consisted of fashion and poetry! Other items on the agenda included a raffle with a selection of great prizes and singing from the Regnate Sisters. The whole night was helped along with the buzz of the seafront fair which happened to be in town only metres away!

The stylists at Richard John always love taking part in events like this. Fashion shows tend to be fast and exciting and the stylists love the chance to create extravagant and cutting edge styles. So WELL DONE to our Hair and Beauty team - you did a fantastic job!

Photographer, Phil Howard, did a fantastic job capturing the girls on film in all manner of sultry and sexy poses and everyone was thrilled with the final results.

The salons are excited about using the finished shots in this year’s marketing campaigns and are proud of this latest collection, which showcases the high levels of talent and professionalism held by all involved.

Victoria apparently fancied a change and opted for a dramatic restyle to coincide with her attendance at the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, which kicked off last Friday. It is a cutting edge hair cut that looks very sexy and has been compared to the pixie crop sported in the 1950s by the likes of Mia Farrow. Victoria certainly attracted a lot of attention and the press have gone crazy.

• Whats New, Whats now? - retail consultants, Emma and Laura did a fantastic job showing us the latest launches. Everyone was fascinated by this section and were very excited about the new Extra Firming Tightening Lift Serum, the next best thing to having a face lift! When applied to the face it forms a flexible film that tightens the skins surface, leaving skin feeling instantly lifted, firmed and smoothed.

1. Cover up
   Protect your hair from too much exposure to direct sunlight. Wear a hat or use products with SPF and UV protection to prevent sun damage.
2. Keep chlorine at bay
   When swimming in chlorinated pools, wet your hair first so it cannot absorb as much water from the pool – a great tip for reducing this chemical over penetrating your hair.
3. Deep cleanse
   Try to use a deep cleansing shampoo after swimming in chlorinated pools as this will help strip out unwanted impurities and keep your hair in good condition.
4. Keep it simple
   Ask your stylist for a summer haircut which is easy to maintain and doesn’t require much styling, especially heat styling. Loose locks that dry naturally are this season’s must have.
