Oscar Night 2009

Well the Oscars 2009 have come and gone again and what a fantastic evening. Lots of celebrities with gorgeous outfits, not to mention hair and make up, and some celebrities looking (ahem!) not so glam. We’re not going to name names but, after all, Mickey Rourke is looking much better than he did a few years ago!

Sarah Jessica Parker looked very high fashion, as you’d expect, in a floaty, pastel gown by Dior with a bustier top which certainly showed off her assets to the full! Her hair was just as beautiful, left loose around her shoulders, styled in gentle waves and looking truly healthy and glossy. Very red carpet.

Best dressed for us was Kate Winslet who wore Atellier Yves Saint Laurent by Stafano Pilati – a gorgeous asymmetric, floor length blue steel satin and black tulle dress – and expertly sculpted hair which was described as a modern day Grace Kelly style. Her hair stylist incorporated a wavy texture in a dynamic shape by blow drying with a large round brush for extra volume and using curling irons to finish the ends smoothly. Happily for Kate, she finally picked up Best Actress for The Reader on the night and having been nominated but unsuccessful numerous times before we’d like to say congraulations!

No blog post about the Oscars can be complete without a quick mention of the biggest success story of the night – Brit flick, Slumdog Millionaire which totally cleaned up, taking away eight of a possible ten awares, including the prestigious Best Director and Best Film! Well done everyone – we’re already looking forward to next year!
